Jersey City's Jerseys took the field in 1886 as part of the Eastern League, representing a proud baseball tradition along the Hudson River. Minor league ball in that era was the lifeblood of working communities. Before the bright lights crossed the river to Manhattan, Jersey City had its own diamond and its own heroes.
